Acclaim Community Outreach 


Each year Acclaim Community Outreach Board of Directors selects a keynote speaker whose background shows outstanding community achievements.  The speaker is honored at this event, along with new Board members and current Board members who have achieved service awards. ACOS has honored such recipients as Michigan State Senator Hansen Clarke, 92.3 FM radio personality Frankie Darcell, Detroit's 36th District Court Judge Donald Coleman, BET's Gerard Henry, and Lee Thomas of Fox 2 News.  Special acknowledgements are also made at this time for many of ACOS donors and supporters. In addition, this event is held at a local community establishment in which Acclaim Community Outreach Services shows support of local community businesses and organizations.
Acclaim Community Outreach host the annual banquet to encourage positive achievement in the community, and as much needed fundraiser to help with meeting the needs of the organization's vision, mission & goals.

The 2012 Board of Directors Banquet was a successful event and one that touched the heart and soul of all attendees.  Pertinent information was shared that was helpful to the community.  Wayne County Commissioner Martha Scott has truly fulfilled many achievements and accomplishments.

Keynote Speaker:  Evangelist Stacy Lattisaw
The ACOS Board of Directors hosted another successful evening of motivation. This year the honoree and speaker was former R & B songstress, Evangelist Stacy Lattisaw.  Many of you may remember the young sweetheart of the secular recording industry years ago.  She sang the hit single "Let Me Be Your Angel" and many others.   Stacy rendered a heartfelt personal testimony and gave an inspiring message that will be remembered for a long time.  Not only has Stacy accomplished a great task as a teenager in the music industry, but she now ministers to women and young adults.  She has her own nonprofit organization called "Believers Building Bridges".  If you missed the event, you certainly missed an inspiring moment that will not be forgotten.  (see photos below)

Acclaim Community Outreach Services hosted its Annual Board of Directors Banquet on Friday August 22, 2008.  The keynote speaker for the event was Lee Thomas of Fox 2 News.  Lee shared the story of his struggle with vitiligo and how individuals could overcome unusual circumstances.  Lee's presentation was very educational, inspiring, and extremely heartfelt.  Many were touched  by his impressive desire to share information regarding this skin disorder.  Lee definitely has a story to tell that will make the world take a different look about caring for others. 
Lee states, "The story that has truly changed my life is my own. I told you my story about my battle with a disease called vitiligo and your viewership and support never changed. Many of you sent me messages of hope and strength. Thank you for your support."  Lee knows that life is not to be taken for granted and his humility and perseverance are to be commended.  He says, "Life is a gift".  (see photos below)

Gerard Henry           
Gerard Henry is the host of BET’s Sunday morning gospel program “Lift Every Voice” and the author of “Voices of Inspiration”, and “Sex At It’s Best: Going AWOL (Abstinence Without Lust)”. He is a visionary who sets an example of the type of leadership that society needs today. Gerard has faithfully served at Hope Christian Church in Lanham, Maryland. He is also a graduate of the University of Maryland having earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Radio-TV-and Film. Mr. Henry hosts the highly rated gospel music video show "Lift Every Voice. 

Mr. Henry desires to establish a mentoring program for teens and produce a variety of media that will appeal to all types of audiences. He says, “One of my primary goals is to motivate people to use their gifts to bring honor & glory to God.” Mr. Henry, along with his wife Terry, and 2 children currently reside in Atlanta, GA.
